On a surprisingly chilly summer day I drove out with my parents to walk the small paths around the historic Mary Campbell Caves. It is in Summit County, located steps from the cozy small town of Cuyahoga Falls.

The cool path that in the early Summer seemed to have that historic presence, that both tragic and beautiful story.

Mary Campbell was an American colonial settler, taken captive as a child by Native Americans during the French and Indian War. Later rescued, she is believed to have been the first white child to travel to the Western Reserve.
